Northern Lights in California

Tracy, CA

2003 October 29

I was unable to see the aurora from Livermore so I set out over the hill to Tracy, and took along a tripod and Digital Camera.  I was able to snap these three 15 second exposures at f2.8.  The first two pictures were taken at  the ISO400 setting.  The last picture was taken at ISO50 and is closer to what the aurora looked like with the naked eye, a large dull reddish glow near the bowl of the big dipper.
