Transit of Venus, June 5 2012


I used a Meade LX200GPS 10" telescope equipped with a Neutral Density-5 Solar Filter.  Winds were light, but scattered clouds were present throughout.

Time Lapse composite of 73 images

The animation above is a composite of 73 images taken with a Nikon FM2 35mm SLR camera connected to the telescope via an F6.3 Focal Reducer.  Click on the image to view a larger version

Venus Transit Start (CCD)

With a Watec 902-H CCD camera connected to a KIWI Video Time Inserter, I was able to record 1st contact.   Unfortunately clouds rolled in before 2nd contact.  Click on the image above to view the 16x time lapse video.
