IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (52) Europa / TYC 4974-00584-1 event on 2005 Dec 03, 13:05 UT Visible from W USA Summary ------- On 2005 Dec 03 UT, the 302 km diameter asteroid (52) Europa will occult a 8.9 mag star in the constellation Virgo for observers along a path across W USA. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 3.4 mag to 12.3 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 7.8 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Ron Stone, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
